The JK Tyre Novice Cup too saw some heated off-the-track action. Momentum Motorsports driver Chirag Ghorpade of Bangalore took all three wins over the weekend but was penalised for the last race for making a jump start. The 10 second penalty placed him at P8. Mohamed Ryan of team MSports was promoted to the top spot for the third race of the weekend while Aaroh Ravindra of team Momentum took second position. The change did hurt Chirag’s ovrall stnadings in the championship, yielding to Aaroh in the driver standings

Tijil Rao, from Bangalore, has become the youngest racer to participate in the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship 2018. At just 15, Tijil will be racing for Momentum Motorsports under the guidance of four-time National Racing Champion, Deepak Paul Chinnappa.
18 years old Law Student Dhruva Tyagi from Meerut, secured Formula LGB 1300 Seat with Team Momentum Motorsports.
Momentum Motorsports are pleased to announce that Dhruva Tyagi will join the Chennai-based team in the MRF MMSC FMSCI INRC 2018 Season in the Formula LGB 1300. 18 years old Dhruva will race under the Momentum Motorsports banner for the first time in 2018, he did pre-season testing in the months of April and May 2018 and secured full season race seat.
Having started his Motorsport career in Formula Junior Racing Series 2018 like many other rookie drivers, he finished 7th overall in his debut season. After making his debut in formula racing, the Meerut lad went on to do pre-season testing with Momentum School of Advance Racing and had shown promising speed which led to securing a full season race seat with Championship Winning Team in the Formula LGB 1300 – Momentum Motorsports.
Dhruva Tyagi: “I’m extremely proud and happy to be racing with Momentum Motorsports. They are a very important team for my career, because I learnt a lot in racing with them. Young Tijil Rao will make a heroic debut in the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship 2018 on June 22-24, having overcome a rare handicap that had made even the simple act of walking extremely excruciating, if not impossible, for him.
Born with clubfoot, a condition in which one’s feet are rotated inwards, Tijil had to undergo two surgeries in each of his legs when he was barely 3.5 month old and 4 years old to assume a normal life.
That, however, didn’t stop him from pursuing his passion for racing. Tijil will now have the distinction of being the youngest racer on the Formula LGB 1300 Grid, which is part of the MRF Indian National Racing Championship 2018.
Still, just 14, the Bangalore boy, studying in Class X at the Mirambika School for New Age, will be racing for Momentum Motorsports.
“We are delighted to have Tijil Rao in our Formula LGB 1300 driver line up”, Rasheed Khan, Momentum Motorsport’s team principal, said. “He has shown promising speed in his pre-season testing with us, and we believe that he can consistently score points through the season,” he added.
Tijil had a solid 2017, competing in the National Rotax Karting Championship and honing his driving. He underwent pre-season testing with Momentum School of Advance Racing in April and May and impressed enough to bag a seat.
“I’m happy to be part of the championship-winning Momentum Motorsport team. They managed to get the best out of me during testing and I am now confident of displaying my skills,” Tijil Rao said.

Yash Aradhya, the 14-year-old child prodigy from Bangalore, studying in class 9 at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School and a multiple National Go Karting Champion. Mahaveer Raghunathan clinched his maiden victory in the formula class of the Boss GP as he produced a flawless display of racing in the fourth round of the championship at Zolder, Belgium, on Saturday. The victory has helped the Chennai youngster, who represents PS Racing by Coloni Motorsport, take the championship lead with 149 points. He is now two points ahead of Austria’s Johann Ledermair.
Mahaveer who started from the third spot on the grid emerged on top in the 16 lap race followed by Italy’s Salvatore De Plano. In qualifying, Mahaveer, driving a Lola Gibson Tech 3.4 V8, had produced the fastest lap in Formula class (third overall) with an effort of 1:20.541 min in his last lap (11 in total).
Delighted with his maiden win, Mahaveer said his performance in the qualifying session boosted his confidence. “After a rainy practice day on Friday, I was worried about the weather for the weekend. Luckily, sunny weather today made the best conditions for the qualifying. I have to thank my team for providing a wonderful race car to compete in,” he said.
